The annual Supply Chain Spotlight event took place in our backyard of Ingliston, Edinburgh last Thursday. Given the important role that the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult and Offshore Wind Growth Partnership have played in Pict’s journey and the development of this product, we were delighted to launch our new GUSx2 at their showcase event. In fact, not only did we launch the GUSx2 but also demonstrated the fantastic responsiveness of its deck tracking function, courtesy of a cobot arm, on loan from TECHNIQUE SERVICES INTERNATIONAL LIMITED.
The GUSx2 name denotes the fact that the system integrates two products; the ground-breaking, heave compensated Get-Up-Safe (GUS) personnel transfer system, and a best-in-class offshore davit crane for cargo transfers of up to 3 tonnes. It’s a product that we started talking about in 2021 and has been under R&D since 2023. Bringing it from concept to product launch has been hard but very satisfying work and we’d like to thank the many suppliers and partners whose support has been critical to the project.
The GUSx2 launch has been a fantastic way for Pict to end 2025 but it’s just the start of a new journey along the road to full commercial deployment. We’re very excited about the feedback we’ve received and the opportunities in 2026 and beyond. We’ll be taking the GUSx2 show on the road again at another brilliant event, Scottish Renewables Offshore Wind Conference on the 28th and 29th January in Glasgow. We hope to see you there.
